This past November 30-December 4, two Our Lady of Good Counsel High School students, Jenna Hill ’23 and Chimdi Ikpe ’23, and one chaperone, Mr. Kevin Abdo, represented the Xaverian Network and the U.S. at the OIEC (International Office of Catholic Education) Global Catholic Conference for Catholic Education in Marseille, France. During this conference, students and adults participated in different workshops and lectures to discern ways to improve the global footprint of Catholic education. In concert with Planet Fraternity, an organization designed to empower students from around the world to serve under the inspiration of the Encyclicals Laudato Si and Fratelli Tutti, students could bond together and find ways to impact their own schools with lessons learned from OIEC. It was an enriching experience for all who participated, and it was an honor to represent the U.S., Good Counsel, and the Xaverian network in this unique opportunity.
