St. Bernard Students Serve at End Hunger NE 2017
A team of Saint Bernard School Saints, organized by Campus Ministry, boxed up 3,000 meals on March 25th at the End Hunger NE 2017 event at Ledyard Middle School.
Several rotary clubs in Southeastern CT partnered with End Hunger NE to organize the event, during which children and adults assembled meals of beans and rice, and macaroni and cheese.
The meals were then packaged, sealed and distributed primarily to local food banks. The event goal was to package 100,000 meals on that one day with the help of about 500 volunteers.
According to End Hunger NE’s Facebook page, the local event set a Connecticut state record and fed 238,410 hungry people in Connecticut and New Jersey.
