Benjamin Horgan, XBSS Formation Director
Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools is pleased to share that Benjamin Horgan has been selected as the new Formation Director for XBSS, effective August 1, 2018.
A graduate of St. Johns High School in Shrewsbury, MA, Ben currently serves as the Director of Ignation Mission and Identity at Loyola Blakefield Middle/High School in Baltimore. As a member of the President’s leadership team, he is responsible for developing and implementing faith formation programs for all stakeholders in the school community, including students, staff, board members, and parents. Beyond his work at the local school level, Ben has developed programming, and led multiple faith formation activities, on the broader Jesuit school network level. He has successfully served on national committees for Jesuit Mission Formation, with other schools in the Jesuit network adopting the best practices he helped implement at Loyola Blakefield. Prior to his work at Loyola, Ben served as the Spiritual Formation Department Chair and a classroom instructor at the Red Cloud Indian School in Pine Ridge, SD.
Ben earned his BA in Religious Studies from Bates College, a Masters of Theological Studies from Loyola University, MD, a certificate of Jesuit studies from Boston College, and he is currently pursuing his Ed.D at Creighton University.
As a product of a Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School, and given his immense experience in delivering robust faith formation programming to varied stakeholders, Ben brings a unique skill set to the Formation Director role. He is energetic, faith-filled, and has a strong passion for Catholic education. We are excited to work closely with Ben in the years ahead to help support the excellent work of our network schools.
Ben and his wife, Hillary, reside in Baltimore. Ben will office from the Generalate in Baltimore, and he is excited to begin visits to our XBSS schools later this summer.
